What is a dental cavity and how dose it develop.
Understanding what a cavity is and how a cavity develops is important in order to prevent having dental decay. Simply put a cavity is a hold that develops in a tooth when the the tooth begins to decay. Tooth decay is caused by plaque, a sticky substance that forms on the tooth as a result of germ and bacteria build-up. Plaque is acidic and as it clings to your teeth the acids eat away the outside of the tooth and a hole is formed. It is very important that when you notice a cavity to see a dentist right away so that it does not grow larger and cause more serious dental issues.
