Dental Insurance Health Care, Dental Health and Your Heart
Question: Can having bad teeth really give you a heart attack?
My mom has bad teeth and though I keep telling her that she should do something about them she keeps putting of saying that she does not want to toss her money at a dentist that is going to charge her an arm and leg to fix a few teeth that do not even hurt her. She always taught us to take good care of our teeth when we were growing up took us to the dentist twice a year. I do not understand why she does not take care of her own teeth.
Then one of my friend told me that bad teeth can cause you to have heart problems and even give you a heart attack. Is this true? If it is I want to tell my mom so maybe she do more about her teeth.
Reply: According to a few studies, yes bad dental health is link to heart conditions. Bad teeth and gums have bacteria can get into your blood causing hart problems as well as other internal problems.
If your mom is really only worried about the cost of dental services let her know there are many great low cost HMO insurance plans she can get that may offer her free to very low cost for preventive dental care (Many of which we sell on this website). As well as low and fair cost for the remaining dental services she may need. Offer to buy her the plan for her, they are affordable and since you want her to go to the dentist it may be a way to get her to go.
