Dental Insurance Health Care, Insurance For Baby is it Needed

Thursday, Nov. 23rd 2017 1:23 PM

Question: Is Dental insurance is needed for new born baby?  I failed to enroll my baby to my current dental insurance plan I received though my employer. The next open enrollment to add her is not until January 2014. By then she will be a little over a year old. Should I wait it out or buy a dental insurance plan just for her?

Answer: The American Dental Association advises that a child should see a dentist by their first birth day or when they cut their first tooth. With that said, it can be difficult to find a dental insurance plan for just a minor. Most dental insurance plan will not write and individual dental insurance plan on a minor. This means you would need to buy a couple plan. Whether or not you decide you should buy a plan for three to four months is up to you. However keep in mind many insurance plan also have waiting periods or required that you keep the plan for at least a year.

Dental Insurance Health Care, Dental Implants Are They The Best Choice

Tuesday, Nov. 21st 2017 6:56 AM

Question: Dental Implant are they the best option for tooth loss? I know pretty much anything I want to do I know will not be covered under dental insurance because I currently have missing teeth with no current insurance.   Putting cost aside because that can always work itself out what is the best option for missing teeth replacement?

Would getting a bridge or partial be better the implants or are implants better?  I heard bad things about both that why I do not know which is the better choice.

Reply:  Dental insurance will typical cover to some degree dentures, partials and bridges. Dental implants due to cost and that they fall under cosmetic services are generally not a covered benefit.

However, with that said, what is best is really going to be up to you. They make partials and dentures so well now that you can not tell they are not your original teeth. In most cases they would be the lower cost option as dental implants cost rang is so great running anywhere from $1000 to $5000 per tooth.  Some dental offices reduce the cost of implants if you are getting more then one implant the more you get the better the cost but it can be still quite expensive.

If you are only replacing a few teeth then implants may be the best way to go. Reason for this is that partial and bridges can cause damage to the adjacent teeth over time. Where as implants are just like your normal teeth and will not do damage to any adjacent teeth.

I would suggest going to a three or four different dentist and getting a consultation. Many dental office will offer free consultations though they may make you pay for any x-rays taken. Therefore once you have X-rays taken, make sure to take them with you or have the dental office e-mail you copies so you do not have to keep having X-rays at each consultation you have.

Dental Insurance Health Care, Clean Healthy Teeth Have No Cavities.

Monday, Nov. 13th 2017 10:01 AM

With the exception of a few medical conditions that can affect your teeth, clean healthy teeth do not get cavities. In order to keep your teeth and gums clean and healthy here are some few basic tips.

* Brush your teeth at least twice a day every day. A good time would be thirty minuets after breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

* Floss your teeth at least once a day. Carry floss on hand so if you eat something that does get stuck in-between your teeth, you are not waiting until you get home to floss and remove the food bit.

* Make sure to schedule (and keep) an appointment with your dentist for routine cleaning and examinations at least twice a year one every six months or as advise by your dentist.

* Keep denture, removable partials, retainer and other appliances clean. This would include regular brushing or soaking in cleaning solution.

Dental Insurance Health Care, Tonsil Stones and Bad Breath.

Sunday, Nov. 5th 2017 6:12 AM

Tonsil stones (tonsilloliths) can be misdiagnosed and are fairly common. Tonsil stones are caused by the accumulation of sulfur-producing bacteria and debris that become lodged in your tonsils. When they become dislodged they can look like a cottage cheese bit. Tonsil stones can also make people have bad breath issues as they have a bad order to them. Having good oral hygiene can help to prevent tonsil stones. While past treatments for tonsil stones included the removal of one’s tonsils, it is not always necessary. If you have frequent tonsil stones issues make sure to speak with your dentist about it so that you can explore other less evasive options.

Having Dental Insurance Will Make The Cost of Treating an Abscessed Tooth More Affordable

Tuesday, Oct. 31st 2017 8:56 AM

The goal of treating an abscessed tooth is to cure the infection, save the tooth and prevent any complications. In order to achieve this goal the dentist will normally prescribe antibiotics in order to fight the infection. During this time what can also help is rinsing your mouth out with warm salt water, and using over the counter pain relievers to help relive any tooth pain you are having as well as reduce fever. After the infection is cured the dentist may advise a root canal in order to save the tooth. After the root canal is done you may also need to have a crown in order to protect the tooth.

By having dental insurance in force you are able to have root canal and crowns done at a more affordable cost. Some dental insurance plans have waiting periods (time period you need to have had the plan before major dental services are covered) therefore having dental insurance prior to any major dental care is needed is best advised.

Dental Insurance Health Care, Dental Care and Stuck Food

Sunday, Oct. 29th 2017 8:53 AM

What to do if you have an food lodged between teeth.

Some times while eating we can get food lodged between our teeth that just does not want to come out easily.  If you are eating out at the time this can also be irritating to you and your gums.

However never use a sharp object to remove anything from between your teeth. This technique doesn’t work, and you can end up cracking or chipping a tooth.  Best advise, carry dental floss with you at all times. I do not suggest flossing at the table but you can do so in the restroom.
